Outdoor classroom day. Āra nodarbības diena. 17.05.2018.
Target language: Trees and plants, feelings, weather vocabulary area
Cross –curricular links: English, Science, Art
Resources : School yard, a sheet of paper and pencils for each learners
Time Guide: 40 minutes
Aims :* to get involved and to have a great day learning and playing outside
* to celebrate and inspire outdoor learning and play
*to improve children’s health, engage them with learning and lead them to a greater connection with nature.
Lesson 1.Short talk about the weather that day and about “Outdoor classroom Day.”
2. We walked around our school building meeting our head teacher Nicolai Lashin and some students from our school. They told us about their plans for that day to plant some lilac bushes in the school lawn. They demonstrated some tools (rakes, spades, etc.)
3. We went to a small school glade full of huge stumps and read a story from Teacher’s” Early Readers “book and discussed it. We made a conclusion:
“…Only now and then…And only really good, kind children can see the beauty around them if they open their eyes really wide and are as quiet as mice.’’

4. We played a game”Show the animal.”
5. Then we went around another part of our school building and enjoyed every- thing: the air was fresh, it wasn’t too hot.
5. Returning to the classroom we discussed our homework.(Draw what did you see in our school yard.)
Conclusion: Benefits for Children include:1. Better social skills
2 .Enhanced problem solving
3. Team working skills
4. Seriously fun!
